SCHENECTADY, NY -- Union College senior Allyson Staats received the Liberty League Pitcher of the Week award for games played through March 29. This is the second honor for Staats, who was named to the Liberty League weekly honor roll last week, the first week of the season for the Dutchwomen.

Staats had a 1.75 ERA in 33 innings for the week. She struck out 20 and had three victories. On March 26 she pitched 11 2/3 scoreless innings with eight strikeouts combined vs. Thomas and Colby. She also plays third base and hit .500 in her six game week. She had three hits vs. Buffalo State and two against Carthage. Staats also had three doubles for the week.

Union opens up the home season Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader against Utica. It is the first of five straight dates at home, which includes Ithaca on Friday and Clarkson on Saturday.
