SAAC Meeting  2/10/12

Matt Milless came to take our picture
Philanthropy events
·      Kelsey works for Redbull
·      Soccer event supported by Enfrastructure and RedBull
·      We’d be the refs for the event- we’d just have to get the word out there about the soccer tournament
·      Early spring so that we can try to have it outside
·      Another idea: each team picks a country and dresses in their colors
·      Mid-end of April
·      Predetermine a charity to donate to
Start thinking of a charity for this event
 
SAAC Points
Going to pick a “SAAC Game Day” for the teams to get more points on
 
Eric- first show taping with Kyle Christine and Brittney Gilbert
Going to see the first edition at next meeting

            To raise money for charity of choice
            1 or 2 members from each team
            Charge admission to raise money
            Making it a community event- get Greeks or Minerva involved
 
Points- Brother Sister teams
            Picking names out of a hat for brother-sister teams
            Do community service together
            Go to each others games

Football team is going to Mt. Pleasant School to volunteer with the kids there-
great community service work!

Season updates:

• Women’s Soccer- unfortunately didn’t make LL
• Men’s Hockey- started regular season this weekend and won both games
  
  Best Buddies Opportunity
• Amy Loya on the basketball team came in to talk about Best Buddies program
• Creating one on one friendships with children who have disabilities
• Teams can have a “buddy” be the ball boy/water boy at a game
• Other ideas
  • Game for autism awareness
  • Health awareness week for buddies- promote healthy living
• Most events are through Minerva Program- look for them in campus announcements
