NEWBURGH, NY - In non-conference action on Thursday afternoon, the Mount Saint Mary College softball team dropped a pair of games to Union College. The Dutchwomen won the first game, 14-0, and the second game, 9-0. The Blue Knights fell to 6-17 overall while Union bumped up to 16-2.
Union junior pitcher Ginni Sack pitched a five-inning, one-hit shutout in game one. Mount Saint Mary freshman Destiny Scott (New Paltz, N.Y.) recorded the only hit of the game for the Blue Knights.

Union repeated the feat in the fourth inning, this time rapping out five hits for six runs. Senior Megan Kaknis drove an RBI triple to the gap in left-center to bring home the first run of the inning. With the bases loaded later in the frame, senior Lucia Reed cleared the bases with a triple to the wall in left field. Kaknis finished 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Bridget Graham was 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Michelle Rogers was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI.

The Dutchwomen added single runs in the second and third innings before getting three in the fourth. Bridget Graham recorded her second triple of the game and scored on a sacrifice fly. Kaknis crushed a solo home run to straight-away center field and then Ashley Kovack smacked an RBI-triple to right-center.
Union closed out the game with two runs in the fifth. Junior pitcher Lindsay Colvin pitched a four-hit shutout to claim the victory. Bridget Graham, Kovack, and Allie Sirrine all went 3-for-3 at the plate.
The Blue Knights had their best chance to score in the third when singles by Scott and freshman Danielle Orender (Wall, N.J.) made it first-and-third. Senior Jessica Thibault (Watertown, Conn.) lined into a double play, however, ending the threat.
Union continues a busy week with a doubleheader at SUNY Geneseo Saturday and a pair of Liberty League games at Rochester Sunday.
