Mike Smiley
Mike Smiley, who played in two NCAA tournaments during his career at Holy Cross, is in his first season with Union in 2009-10. He came to the Dutchmen from Babson College, where he was the program's lone full time assistant from 2005-08.
At Babson, Smiley was part of an outstanding turnaround with the Beaver program. He was on the staff that took a team that finished last in the NEWMAC in 2005-06 and guided it to a second place finish and top 10 ranking in New England in 2006-07. Smiley was promoted to Associate Head Coach prior to the 2007-08 season.
During his career at Holy Cross, Smiley was a four year varsity letter winner. He was a member of teams that combined to win 84 games during his career. In the 2001-02 season, the Crusaders advanced to the NCAA tournament and played Kansas, and the following year, Holy Cross returned to the tourney and faced Marquette. His 2004-05 team advanced to the second round of the NIT after defeating Notre Dame.
Smiley has lectured at many basketball camps throughout New England. He has also written numerous articles for a variety of basketball publications.
