Steve was named Liberty League Rookie of the Year during his first season as a Dutchmen. He also earned UNYSCSA Swimmer of the Meet, and was a Honorable Mention All-American in the 1650 free.

Won 1650 freestyle at the Liberty League Swimming Championship with a time of 17:02.06
Won 500 and1000 freestyle against Williams College with times of 4:53.78 and 10:02.74
Won 500 and 1000 freestyle against Hartwick and Springfield with a times of 4:51.89 and 10:02.37
Won 100 and 200 freestyle against RPI with a time of 49.68 and 1:47.36
