AMSTERDAM, N.Y.—Junior pitcher
Jake Fishman tossed a complete-game four-hit shutout to lead the Union College baseball team to a 3-0 win against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in the Liberty League Championship Tournament, Thursday evening at Shuttleworth Park.
Fishman proved to be nearly unhittable, retiring 11 straight batters to end the game. He finished with 10 strikeouts and two walks over nine innings to improve to 7-0 on the season, recording his fifth career shutout and dropping his college basebaball-leading ERA to 0.31.
Greg Echevarria suffered the loss on the mound, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits, while striking out six and walking none.
The Dutchmen (24-12), who extended their winning streak to seven, take on Clarkson University at 1 p.m., Friday, May 13, while the Engineers (14-26) will play the University of Rochester in an elimination game at 10 a.m.

After six scoreless innings, the Dutchmen tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth. Fishman hit a leadoff double off the left field wall and advanced to third on a groundout.
Eric Egan plated Fishman on a fielder's choice and stole second before scoring on a Glatt single to right field.
Fishman retired the side in order in the top of the ninth to seal the 3-0 win.
