Women's Hockey Falls at RPI, 4-2

TROY, NY- The Union College Dutchwomen fell to backyard rival RPI 4-2 on Saturday afternoon. Jessica Kaminsky and Rebecca Babiak scored for the Garnet and White and Shenae Lundberg tallied 39 saves in the loss.

Lundberg's 39 stops gives her 842 on the season and 2,755 in her career. With today's performance, she moves to 25th all-time in NCAA Division 1 history in career saves, passing Alli Altmann (Minn. St Manakato '12). The 842 saves are also 3rd all-time in school history in a single season. Lundy Day holds the top two spots in program history with 1,181 and 1,081 saves in the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons.

RPI's Laura Horwood provided the Engineers with 1-0 lead at the 8:39 mark in the opening stanza. Horwood's first shot was blocked by a Union defensemen but Horwood grabbed the rebound and was able to beat Lundberg over her left shoulder for the goal.

Renesslaer made it 2-0 later in the period as Hannah Behounek dished it to Katie Rooney right in front who beat Lundberg to put RPI in front.

Kaminsky cut the deficit to one for the Dutchwomen a few minutes later as she beat RPI's Kelly O'Brien with a nice move in front while she was losing her balance. It was her second goal in as many days and her fourth of the season. Christine Valente and Kathryn Tomaselli picked up assists on Kaminsky's fifth goal of the season.

Lauren Wash gave the Engineers a 3-1 advantage at 6:14 in the second with a backhanded shot just outside of the crease that went through the legs of Lundberg.

Midway through the third period, RPI added another goal to make it 4-1. Babiak closed out the contest with her second goal of the season with 32 seconds remaining in the final period. Emily Erickson and Kaminsky had the assists on the goal.

The Dutchwomen will return to action next weekend as they travel to Cornell and Colgate. Both contests will begin at 3:00 pm.
