SCHENECTADY, NY -- On Tuesday, June 3, Union College Athletics is hosting a special charity event. The Union Athletics "Just Out" Home Run Derby will raise funds for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (in honor of Nate Greenberg of men's lacrosse), Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center (in honor of
Justin Lloyd of baseball) and Sarcoma (in honor of Kristen Shinebarger, the daughter of Shelly Shinebarger, the Director of Student Support Services at Union).
Union is hosting a slow pitch softball home run derby at Memorial Field House that day at 5:00 p.m. Last year's event raised over $10,000 for charity. Points will be accumulated for circled target areas in the infield and outfield as well as for home runs that are "just out" over the fence.
The event will feature a raffle with many fabulous prizes including the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Tri City Valley Cats, Proctors Theatre, and the grand prize of two New York Yankees tickets. The tickets, valued at $240, are for the Saturday, July 19 game vs. the Cincinnati Reds at 1:05 p.m. Raffle tickets will be sold at the event.
