Union scored first for the fifth straight game with its fifth shorthanded goal of the season early in the first period. With

Carr cut to his backhand and beat Colgate's Alex Evin at 5:35 to put the Dutchmen up 1-0. Colgate answered just over a minute later on another power play, this time with sophomore forward
Josh Jooris in the penalty box for interference.
Colgate's Jeremy Price fired a shot from the point that hit off the back wall and back into the slot. Austin Smith passed cross-ice to Robbie Bourdon, who beat Grosenick at 7:11 to even the game at 1-1.
Union would regain the lead at 11:03, when freshman defenseman
Shayne Gostisbehere beat Evin with a slapshot from the point for his fifth goal of the season.
Colgate notched its second power play goal of the night at 7:36, when Austin Mayer cut into the zone with speed and fired over the shoulder of Grosenick to tie the score at 2-2.
But Union answered just 18 seconds later, as Carr fired a long shot through traffic past Evin to give Union the lead once again.
