Daniel Carr added a goal and an assist to lead No. 8/8 Union men's hockey (19-6-7, 13-3-4 ECAC Hockey) to a 5-2 win over Quinnipiac (16-11-5, 8-8-4 ECAC Hockey) on Senior Night in front of 2,131 fans at Messa Rink.

Union held a 30-25 shot advantage for the contest, as Quinnipiac goaltender Eric Hartzell stopped 25 shots in net for the Bobcats.
The Dutchmen, who finished 2-for-8 with the man advantage on the night, scored on their first power play opportunity of the night, with Quinnipiac's Connor Jones in the penalty box for holding. Junior forward
Kyle Bodie fed Coburn cutting to the net, who fired a shot off the back of Hartzell and in at 3:14.
Carr scored his 13
th goal of the season on an impressive individual effort, corralling a loose puck behind the net, skating to the slot and beating Hartzell over the shoulder at 12:51 of the opening frame.
Quinnipiac would cut into the Union lead on the man advantage early in the second period, when Cory Hibbeler deflected a shot from Zach Davies past Grosenick at 5:54. The Bobcats finished the night 1-for-7 on the man advantage.
Later in the period, Grosenick was forced to leave the game when Quinnipiac's Spencer Heichman barreled into the goaltender after he was hooked to the ice by junior forward
Wayne Simpson. With Simpson in the penalty box and Stevens in net, the Dutchmen came up with a strong penalty kill to help Union maintain the lead heading into the third period.
Union used the man advantage to take a two goal lead midway through the final frame. With Quinnipiac's Mike Glaicar in the penalty box for holding, Welsh misfired on a shot from the point, but the puck trickled on goal. Hartzell made the initial save, but Sullivan was there to poke in the rebound at 11:05, giving Union a 3-1 lead.
Stevens made his best stop of the night with Union on the penalty kill just minutes later. Quinnipiac's Zack Currie fired a shot from the high slot that Stevens smothered at the 13:00 mark.
With Hartzell out of the net in the final minutes, Welsh added an empty net goal at 18:16 to give Union a 4-1 lead. The goal was Welsh's team-leading 20
th of the season, just three shy of the school single season record.
Quinnipiac's Bryce Van Brabant scored from the slot at 18:55, cutting the Union lead to 4-2. But with Hartzell leaving the net for an extra attack on the ensuing faceoff, Hatch forced a turnover in the neutral zone, leading to another empty net goal at 19:03.
Union will travel to No. 12/12 Cornell next Friday night in a contest set to begin at 7:00 p.m. Union leads Cornell by two points in the race for the Cleary Cup.
