Eve Richards named Liberty League Volleyball Co-Performer of the Week

SCHENECTADY, NY - Eve Richards received Liberty League volleyball honors Monday when she was named Co-Performer of the Week.  This is the second time the Schenectady native has received the title, earning Co-Performer of the Week in 2010.  She also was named Rookie of the Week a total of four times her freshman season in 2008.

Richards helped the Dutchwomen remain undefeated this week, topping Skidmore, SUNY Oneonta, Kean, Hartwick and Lasell.  The outside hitter tallied 60 digs during the Interleague Challenge, bringing her week total to 81.  Over the five matches, she had a .300 attack percentage.  The senior also recorded five assists, 11 service aces, 52 digs, nine solo blocks and 10 block assists.

At the conclusion of the Interleague Challenge, hosted by Union, she was named the Tournament MVP. Out of the three other tournaments the Dutchwomen have participated in this season, Richards has been named to every All-Tournament Team.

Richards now leads the Liberty League in kills with an outstanding 350.  She is currently only 90 kills away from her season total of kills in 2010 (440), and has already surpassed her season totals from 2009 (332) and 2008 (341).

Next up, Richards and the Dutchwomen are headed to Rochester, N.Y. for the RIT Tournament on October 14th and 15th.  The squad will take on Bard at 5:00 p.m. and RIT at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, before facing Vassar at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.  Union is currently 15-9 on the season, in the midst of a six-game winning streak.
