Box Score

SCHENECTADY, NY
– Senior forward Adam Presizniuk scored twice in the second period to lead Union (18-7-3, 10-3-1 ECAC Hockey) to a 4-2 win over Brown (7-9-4, 5-7-1 ECAC Hockey) in front of 1,774 fans at Messa Rink.

The Dutchmen have won three straight games and six of their last seven contests.

Senior forwards John Simpson and Justin Pallos also scored for the Dutchmen, who pulled within one point of the ECAC-leading Yale after the Bulldogs fell to RPI later in the evening.

Sophomore goaltender Keith Kinkaid made 26 stops on 28 shots to improve to 17-7-2 on the season. Kinkaid needs two wins to tie Corey Milan's single season wins record, set two seasons ago.

Simpson scored his fifth goal of the season at 13:44 of the first period to give Union a 1-0 lead. With Brown's Marc Antoine-Carrier in the penalty box for tripping, sophomore forward Wayne Simpson fed older brother John from the side boards. John Simpson skated in from straightaway and fired a wrist shot over the shoulder of De Filippo.

Brown tied the score in the opening minute of the second period. Junior Jack Maclellan scored his team-leading 14th goal of the season, sweeping a backhander between Kinkaid's pads to even the score at 1-1 at :18.

With the game in the balance, Presizniuk made a great play to set up his first goal of the night, giving the Dutchmen the lead for good. Presizniuk stripped Brown's Marc-Antoine Carrier in the neutral zone and cut into the offensive zone on an odd-man rush before firing a shot into the far side of the net at 4:28 of the second period.

The Bears just missed a chance to tie the game when Brown forward Harry Zolnierczyk, just out of the penalty box, went in alone on Kinkaid, made a move to his forehand before sweeping the puck behind the goaltender, but wide of the far post by inches at the 8:00 mark.

Pallos would put Union up 3-1 minutes later, scoring what proved to be the game-winner at 10:53. Senior forward Andrew Buote fed Pallos from behind the net, who fired a shot off the arm of De Filippo for his seventh goal of the year, a career high.

Union would increase the lead to 4-1 on Presizniuk's second tally of the night at 11:57, a rebound goal after an initial rush by freshman forward Matt Hatch.

Brown's Jeremy Russell scored at 8:58 of the third period to cut into the Union lead, but the Dutchmen would hold on for their second ECAC weekend sweep of the season.

The Dutchmen will hit the road to take on Princeton next Friday at 7:00 p.m.
