GENEVA, NY -- Mark Bruce scored 16 points and Matt Pebole finished with 14 points and six rebounds as host Hobart won a Liberty League men's basketball home game, 97-47 over Union Friday night at Bristol Gym. The Statesmen now stand 4-4 in the league and 11-8 overall, while the Dutchmen are 5-4 in the league and 9-10 for the season.
Tim Llewellyn added 12 points for the Statesmen, and Brian Burbank added six rebounds. Hobart had a 55-24 advantage on the boards and shot 45% while holding the Dutchmen to 34% for the game.
Union was led by
Joey Lokitis, who scored 13 points, and
Keven Donohue, who notched eight while making all four of his free throw attempts.
Matt Covucci had a team high seven rebounds and
Drew Goldstein scored eight points.
Hobart had a 55-15 halftime lead, The game was tied at 2-2 38 seconds into the game before the Statesmen went on a 14-0 run in the next 5:04. The largest lead was 42 at 55-13 with 49 seocnds left in the half. The biggest lead of the night was 56 at 91-35 with 5:18 remaining in the second half.
Union will play at Hamilton Saturday at 4 p.m.
