Volleyball's Bridget Little named to CoSIDA Academic All District First Team

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Union College senior middle hitter Bridget Little has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All District First Team. Little, who was named to the All District Third Team in 2009, is the first Union volleyball player in the program's 26 year history to be selected to the First Team for the Academic All District program.

With the selection to the first team, Little is now eligible for Academic All American status. The All America teams are scheduled to be announced on November 22.

Little leads Union with 108 blocks, including 14 solos and 94 assists. She has 121 kills and 17 service aces and has played all 32 matches for the Dutchwomen. She has already broken the career record for sets played and will break the career record for matches played this weekend at Skidmore. She is also just the fifth person in Union Volleyball History to record over 500 blocks for her career joining fellow Burnt Hill's High School grads and Union Alums such as Hall of Famer Gretchen Voegler Belanger '96, Rachel Ormsby '08, and Sue Gestwick '04.

The senior received the 2010 ECAC Medal of Merit for Union's Junior Female Athlete of the Year at last spring's year end athletic banquet. This award is presented to the outstanding junior female athlete of the year. She is a three time Dean's List recipient. Little is the President of both Tau Beta Pi Engineering Society and Pi Tau Sigma Mechanical Engineering Honor Society. She received the Lawrence J. Hollander Bicentennial Scholarship and her community work includes UCARE Day, Minerva Games (for youth) on campus, Habitat for Humanity, Altamont Fair Art Entries, and Mechanical Engineering Help Center.

Little and her teammates compete at the Liberty League Volleyball Championships Friday and Saturday at St. Lawrence.
