ALBANY, NY – For the third straight week, the 17
th-ranked Union College men's ice hockey team has had a student-athlete represent the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week. On Monday, the conference gave the accolade to senior forward
Jason Walters for his five-point, four-goal performance during Union's three games last week. The honor came on the same day that the USCHO.com poll had Union up a spot to number 17 with 184 points.
Walters registered and a goal in Union's 4-3 loss against 15th-ranked UMass on Tuesday at the 2009 Toyota UConn Classic. He followed with a goal and an assist in 7-0 win in the consolation game versus UConn. Against Army on Saturday, he led Union to a 2-1 win with both goals, including the game-winning in overtime.
The Renfrew, Ontario native is only three points away from becoming the fourth Union Division I player to reach 100 points. Walters is currently riding a 10-game point streak, including a five-game goal streak. He is second on the team with 22 points and leads the team with 11 goals.

Mario Valery-Trabucco, earned the two previous ECAC Hockey Player of the Week honors on Dec. 14 and Dec. 7. So far this season, the Dutchmen have been present in the weekly honors eight times.
The Dutchmen, who are 4-0-3 in conference play, travel to Princeton on Friday, Jan. 8 and to first-place Quinnipiac on Saturday, Jan. 9. Both contests are at 7 p.m.
