Asano, Boe participate in USA development camps

Claudia Asano
SCHENECTADY, NY – Union women's ice hockey head coach Claudia Asano and assistant coach Ali Boe will return to the ice this summer as coaches for the USA Hockey Player Development Camp. Asano will head to in St. Cloud, MN to coach the girl's U-16 team camp, which consists of the best hockey players in the nation under the age of 16. Boe is taking a similar job, coaching the girl's U-14 team camp in Rochester, NY.

"It is a great experience to be involved with usa hockey and the development of girls and womens ice hockey," Asano said. "It is an honor for coach for usa."

Each camp consists of ten coaches from various college programs around the country. This will be Asano's second year as a member of the development coaching staff, and she will be mentoring young players from June 26 through July 2. The camp will be held at the National Hockey Center at St. Cloud St. This year Asano has been assigned to coach the U-16 team, as opposed to the summer of 2008 when she coached the U-17 team.

On the other side of the country, Boe returns to ESL Sports Centre to coach girls 14 years of age and younger from July 22-28. Like Asano, this is Boe's second year coaching for these camps, though she has switched from the U-15 to U-14 age group.

The Dutchwomen open the 2009-10 season at Northeastern on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
