As the Union College women's ice hockey team celebrates the New Year, it will also conclude its non-conference schedule hosting North Dakota for two games. The Dutchwomen and the Fighting Sioux will faceoff New Year's Day at 7 p.m., and on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Fans that can't make it to Messa Rink can follow the game through live video or live stats.

It has been nearly three weeks since Union was on the ice. The last time the Dutchwomen was on the ice, they split a two-game weekend series with Maine on Dec. 11-12. The Dutchwomen delivered a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Black Bears. But the Black Bears won the second meeting 4-0 on the next day.

Sophomore forward #Lauren Cromartie# played a key role to the win, delivering two goals in the second period to keep the Dutchwomen ahead of the Black Bears. In addition to Cromartie's two goals, freshman forward #Rhianna Kurio# and sophomore defenseman #Chelsey Heinhuis# became the perfect scoring pair as the two both assisted #Callee Heywood#'s goal and Cromartie's second goal.

About 24 hours after she was selected to the ECAC Hockey All-Star team, sophomore forward Émilie Arseneault broke a 3-3 tie with less than two minutes left of the game.

Sophomore goaltender #Kate Gallagher# earned her first weekly honor of her collegiate career, earning ECACH Goaltender of the Week after combining a total of 57 saves in the two games against the Black Bears, 33 of those shots were on Dec. 11 in Union's 4-3 win. It is the third game this season that Gallagher has stopped 30-plus saves.

Gallagher also played a key role in when Union faced a four-on-three penalty, leading the Dutchwomen defense in killing a four minute penalty.
