Drillinger Wins Three Meter Dive, Dutchmen fall to Rochester

Sophomore Ian Drillinger won the three meter dive as the Union College men’s swimming & diving team fell short to Rochester by a score of 152-146.

Drillinger scored a 240.75 to win the event. Finishing behind him was Rochester’s Kenneth Johnson, who scored 179.25.

In the 200 medley relay, sophomore Alex Boyd, senior Todd Herman, juniors Kevin Jung and Brian Scarlett won the event by a time of 1:39.61. Scarlett also won the 100 yard backstroke while sophomore Billy Breitweiser won the 200 yard freestyle.

In the 1,000 yard freestyle, senior Brian Schapp recorded a time of 10:21.95 to win the event. Rochester’s Christian Vu was runner-up with a time of 10:22.20.

Schapp and freshman Matt Wahl finished first and second, respectively, in the 200 yard butterfly. Schapp timed a 2:05. 18 and Wahl recorded 2:08.03. Boyd and freshman David Sorensen also finished first and second, respectively, in the 200 yard breaststroke. Boyd and Sorensen turned in a time of 2:21.68 and 2:24.37, respectively.
