Dutchwomen soccer hangs tough with #12 William Smith

GENEVA, NY – Despite a 1-0 loss at #12 William Smith (10-3-2) on Sunday, the Union College women’s soccer team (10-6) is heading back to the Liberty League postseason tournament, finishing fourth in the conference with a 4-3 mark. William Smith (5-0-2) secures the top spot and will host Union in the first round game.

Junior goalkeeper Abby Stohler stood strong against the home team, stopping nine shots, while at the other end Amanda Davis turned away four for the shutout.

The game-winning goal came off the foot of Renee Jensen at 23:02 thanks to a lead pass from BreLynn Nasypany.

William Smith outshot the Dutchwomen 12-8 and had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Union wraps up the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 31 with a 5 p.m. match against Elms.
