ALBANY, NY - Union college men's hockey freshman forward Jeremy Welsh has been named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Welsh recorded two goals and an assists, helping the Dutchmen sweep Maine this past weekend at Messa Rink with 4-1 and 6-3 wins.

Welsh, a Bayfield, Ontario native, scored his first-career goal -- the game-winner -- in Union's season-opening victory against Maine on Friday. He followed with his first career multi-point game, registering a goal and an assist on Saturday.

For the weekend, Welsh had a plus-3 rating.

The Dutchmen hit the road for a two-game set at St. Cloud, beginning on Friday, Oct. 16 at 8 p.m. (EST) and ending on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. (EST).
