NORTHAMPTON, MASS. – The Union College men's indoor track and field team placed fifth at the Smith College Tartan Invitational Saturday. The Dutchmen earned 55 points in the 13-team field, behind Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, which won the meet with 194 points. Freshman Alex Coppola (Scotia, N.Y.) won the triple jump with a distance of 13.07 meters.
Matt Wentworth (North Andover, Mass.) finished seventh in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.87 seconds, and finished the 200 meter dash in 23.97 seconds to place seventh.
Patricio Guaiquil (Astoria, N.Y.) placed eighth, just behind Wentworth with a time of 23.98 seconds.
Guaiquil also finished third in the 400 meter run with a time of 52.82 seconds. Pietrak followed with a 53.56 second performance, placing seventh.
Katlic placed fourth in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:26.92, while Panossian finished fifth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:02.73.
George Fontaine (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:41.95 to place seventh, while Stabinski finished seventh in the mile run with a time of 4:40.91.
In the field,
Jun-Ho Ham (Allendale, N.J.) placed fourth in the shot put with a distance of 13.35 meters.
The Dutchmen travel to St. Lawrence for the Liberty League Championships on Saturday, February 16th.
