SCHENECTADY, NY -- The Union College volleyball team has been selected to the 64 team field for the 2008 NCAA Division III Championships. The Dutchwomen also have been selected as one of the hosts for the eight sites for the field, and the regionals will take place Thursday, November 13 through Saturday, November 15 at the Viniar Athletic Center.
Ticket prices are as follows: Adults - $5.00, Students w/ID and Senior Citizens (65 and over) - $3.00,
Children under 12 - $2.00 and Children under 2 – FREE. There are no complimentary tickets for NCAA playoff events. Each price includes the full session for that day.
The Dutchwomen, 35-5, won their second straight Liberty League Championship Saturday at home. The regional format is a single elimination event and this eight team site consists of the following schedule:
Thursday, November 13:
Haverford (24-6) vs. Fredonia State (27-9) - 1:00 p.m.
Stevens (32-4) vs. Sage Colleges (24-11) - 3:30 p.m.
New Paltz (29-9) vs. Hunter (27-5) - 6:00 p.m.
Union (35-5) vs. Rivier (25-10) - 8:30 p.m.
Friday, November 14:
Haverford/Fredonia State winner vs. Stevens/Sage winner - 6:00 p.m.
New Paltz/Hunter winner vs. Union/Rivier winner - 8:30 p.m.
Saturday, November 15:
Regional Championship - 7:00 p.m.
This regional champion will advance to the National Quarterfinals in Bloomington, Illinois.
This is Union's second NCAA playoff appearance since the program began in 1975. Union competed in the NCAA Eastern Regional at Nazareth College on November 14, 2002, losing to Vassar in four games.
