SCHENECTADY, NY – Kevin Trigonis has been hired as the new Union College football offensive coordinator, head coach
Jeff Behrman announced Monday.
Â
"We are excited that Kevin and his family have agreed to join us at Union College," Behrman said. "Kevin is a man of high character and integrity. He will be an excellent mentor to our student-athletes both on and off the field."
Â
Trigonis joins Union after spending the previous four seasons at Castleton University where he served as the offensive coordinator, and offensive line, running backs and quarterbacks coach for the Spartans. He joined Castleton in 2014 with first-year head coach Tony Volpone, who had inherited a team that had gone 1-9 the previous season. Trigonis helped turn the team around, as the Spartans posted a 7-3 record in 2014. During his four seasons with Castleon, the Spartans recorded three 5-2 finishes in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC).
Â
In 2016, he helped pave the way for Castleton's first 1,000-yard rusher and ECFC Rookie of the Year, Moe Harris. In 2015 he also helped wide receiver Kevin Alberque earn ECFC Offensive Player of the Year honors. In total during his four years, Trigonis' offense accumulated 20 all-conference awards and two all-region awards.
Â
Prior to Castleton, Trigonis spent two years at RPI. The Engineers won five games in each of Trigonis' two seasons and finished in the top half of the Liberty League in scoring both seasons. In 2012, the RPI passing offense was the most prolific in the Liberty League, averaging 275 yards per game to go with 23 passing touchdowns. In his offense, quarterback Mike Hermann led the league in passing and total offense on this way to earning Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year and d3Football.com All-Region honors.
Â
Prior to RPI, Trigonis spent three seasons at Carroll University in Wisconsin. At Carroll he served as the offensive line coach and in his final season was promoted to offensive coordinator. That year the team went 7-3 while averaging 354 yards of offense and scoring 30.4 points per game.
Â
Trigonis spent 2007 and 2008 at Amherst College where he worked with running backs and half backs. Prior to Amherst he spent a season at Salve Regina.
Â
He graduated from St. Lawrence in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in sociology and was a two-year player for the Saints before injuries sidelined his career. Trigonis went on to earn his Masters of Science in athletic leadership from Castleton in 2017.
