SCHENECTADY, NY - Senior Matthew Wetzel and junior Nicholas Brenn will captain the men's crew team in 2012-13, Union head coach Tom White announced.

"With Matt's experience and Nick's drive, I expect these two to steward and lead the program to the next level," White said. "Both are are outstanding leaders in unique and different ways. I am excited to work with them."

In 2011-12, the men's crew team had its best spring season in years, with the varsity eight winning four straight races entering the Liberty League Championships. Union defeated RPI, maintained its hold on the Gilman Cup with a win over Hamilton, and earned race wins over SUNY Albany and Clark.

In the Liberty League Championships, the varsity eight defeated RIT and Skidmore, finishing second to Hobart.

Tom White and assistants Steve Eichfeld and Tim Nonna earned Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year honors to cap off the season.
