Lauren McCormick forward was a unanimous selection to the 2010-11 Liberty League Women's Basketball All Star First Team, announced February 24. Senior guard
Leah Pepe was named to the Second Team and freshman guard
Marissa Ray was selected to the All-Rookie Team.
McCormick is an eight time Liberty League Performer of the Week. She is averaging 15.4 points and 8.9 rebounds, both team highs, and leads the league in rebounding while ranking sixth in scoring and field goal percentage (.433). She also had 13 blocks in 22 games. In her final home game, she became the 11th Dutchwoman to record 1,000 career points. McCormick has eight double-doubles this season and 14 in her career. She has double figure points in 19 of her 22 games (one of the other three featured her arrival mid-game after a test). The tri-captain scored 24 points at Hamilton and 25 the next night at William Smith. McCormick has nine games with double figure rebounds, and five games with 20 or more points. She also was nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-American honors.
Pepe has an 11.2 points average and has a team best 49 assists with 29 steals. She has started all 22 games and has scored in double figures in 13 games. Pepe scored a career high 22 points at Hamilton and had 15 vs. Western New England, at St. Lawrence and at RPI. She is averaging 5.1 rebounds and has seven boards in six games this season.
Ray averaged 7.1 points per game in 18 games in her freshman season. She is injured and missed the last four games and will not be able to play in the upcoming Liberty League Tournament. Ray scored 15 at home against Vassar for a career high then two games later, eclipsed that with 16 against William Smith. Ray pulled down seven boards at Hamilton and six vs. Western New England.
The Dutchwomen, 14-8 overall, finished 9-5 in the league. Union, seeded #3 in the Liberty League Tournament at St. Lawrence, faces #2 William Smith Friday at 6 p.m. in Canton, New York.
