McCormick's memorable weekend earns another Liberty League honor

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Union College women's basketball senior Lauren McCormick had a memorable weekend that featured her 1,000th career point. Her performance earned her an eighth Liberty League Performer of the Week Award. She is joined this week by Vassar's Brittany Parks and Cydni Matsuoka, Mollie Danahy and Kristen Kush of William Smith and Kelly Legg of St. Lawrence.

McCormick became the 11th Dutchwoman in Union basketball history to record 1,000 career points when she made a free throw with 10:24 remaining vs. St. Lawrence. She had 20 points and six rebounds in that game. She also had 16 points and eight rebounds in a win over Clarkson. McCormick, the league's leading rebounder, has five 20 point games this season.

Union ended the regular season with a 14-8 overall record, and the 9-5 Liberty League record was tied for second with William Smith. The Dutchwomen play the Herons Friday in a Liberty League Tournament Semi Final Game at St. Lawrence's Burkman Gymnasium. The host Saints play #4 seed Vassar at 8 p.m. The winners will meet for the Liberty League Championship and NCAA automatic playoff bid at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
