SCHENECTADY, NY -- For the third time this season, Union College junior goalkeeper
Cat Ruggiero has earned Liberty League weekly honors. She shares this week's Co-Defensive Performer of the Week Award with Hamilton defender Lauren Sokol for the honor that includes games through April 25.
Ruggiero allowed a total of just four goals in the two league victories at home last week. The NCAA Div. III leader in save percentage (.614) has helped Union win seven of the last eight overall games, as she allowed one goal vs. Clarkson and three vs. St. Lawrence. On the week, she had a GAA of 5.67 in three games with 24 total saves.
Union is ranked #11 once again this week in the new IWLCA Division III National Poll. The Dutchwomen, 9-5, end the regular season with Liberty League road games at William Smith Friday and at #1 Hamilton Saturday. Union will finish first or second in the standings and will play in the Liberty League Championship Tournament beginning May 7 at the top seed.
