Donohue, Lokitis receive Liberty League weekly awards, Lokitis also honored by ECAC

SCHENECTADY, NY -- For their performances in the final weekend of the regular season, two members of the Union College men's basketball team received honors from the Liberty League. Keven Donohue was named the league's Rookie of the Week while Joey Lokitis received the league's Co-Guard of the Week Award. Lokitis shared the honor with Tim Rupp of RPI.

Lokitis also received this week's ECAC Division III Upstate Player of the Week.

Donohue scored 24 points in the regular season finale at St. Lawrence. He also had seven rebounds in 35 minutes and made all six free throws. He scored 35 points in the two game weekend. This is Donohue's second honor this season, as he was named the Forward of the Week on February 1. He is averaging 10.2 points, which is second on the team.

Lokitis has received the guard honor for the fifth time this season. No other guard has received as many weekly awards this winter. Lokitis averaged 19.5 points for the Dutchmen in the final two regular season games. He scored 22 points in the regular season finale at St. Lawrence and had 17 points and three steals in the game at Clarkson. Lokitis has four 20+ point games in his last five games and is averaging 21.0 points in his last five games. On the winter, the senior tri-captain is averaging 16.0 points per game. On February 19, he became the 17th Dutchman to record 1,000 points in his career, and currently has 1,030 points.

Union will compete in the LIberty League Championship Tournament this weekend. The Dutchmen (12-12 overall), finished the regular season with an 8-6 league mark. Union is the #4 seed and plays at #1 St. Lawrence Friday night at 8 p.m. The teams split the two game season series. The other semifinal matchup features #2 Skidmore vs. #3 Hobart. The winners meet for the league title and automatic NCAA playoff berth Saturday at 4 p.m. at St. Lawrence's Burkman Gymnasium.
