ALBANY, NY -- The Union College men’s ice hockey team took part in the Center for Disability Services Telethon hosted by Union Hockey helps out at Center of Disability Services Telethon on Sunday and helped bring in approximately 1.9 million dollars, according to the results published on
Fox23news.com.
Returning from Yale and Brown, the Dutchmen arrived at Messa Rink at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday morning. They were back in their uniforms only a few hours later, answering phone calls from donors from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m.
The telethon, which was in its 50th year, raised funds to further the Center for Disability Services mission to enable and empower people primarily those with disabilities, to lead healthy and enriched lives.
It’s a place you never know if someone you love will need the services we provide,” said Center President and CEO Alan Krafchin. “All of the money stays local and serves an important need and you can see the results of where the money goes in people’s lives.”
The 1.9 million dollars was a record – up $28,000 from a year ago.
