Donohue scores 26 in Union's 83-77 loss at Skidmore

Despite a career high 26 points by Union freshman Keven Donohue, Skidmore won 83-77 over the Dutchmen at the Sports & Recreation Center Tuesday night. The Thoroughbreds, 6-2 in the Liberty League, are now 13-6 overall. Union's four game winning streak was snapped as the Dutchmen fell to 5-3 in the league and 9-9 overall.

Donohue, this week's ECAC Upstate and Liberty League Co-Forward award winners, now has 66 points in his last three games. Matt Covucci had a game high 14 rebounds and Drew Goldstein added 17 points. Joey Lokitis scored 10 for the Dutchmen, who outrebounded the hosts, 39-32. Union shot 47% from the floor.

Kyle Clark led the Thorougbreds with 15 points and Melvin Langintuo scored 14 with Terron Victoria hitting for 13 points. Clark had a double double with a team best 10 rebounds. Skidmore shot 46% for the game.

Skidmore had a 40-38 lead at halftime. The hosts then went on an 8-2 run featuring a three point play by Clark for a 50-40 lead with 17:31 left in the half. Clark's layup at 14:12 made it 58-48 Skidmore, but the Dutchmen then went on a run of their own. Four points from Evan Croll highlighted a 10-2 run in a span of 1:47 and it was a two point game at 60-58 Skidmore. But in the next three minutes the Thoroughbreds scored 15 straight points, including two straight three pointers from Langintuo, to open up a 17 point lead at 75-58 lead with 9:25 left. Union got no closer then five at 82-77 with 10 seconds left.

Union concludes a span of five straight Liberty League road games next weekend. The Dutchmen are at Hobart Friday at 8 p.m. and at Hamilton Saturday at 4 p.m.
