SCHENECTADY, NY -- Two members of the Union men's basketball team received Liberty League weekly honors for their performances in games through January 23.
Joey Lokitis was named the Co-Guard of the Week, sharing the award with Tim Llewellyn of Hobart, while Joseph Mason received the Co-Rookie of the Week award with Stefan Thompson of Hobart.
Lokitis scored 20 points in back-to-back home league victories, and also averaged 8.0 rebounds in the two games. He posted 20 points with six rebounds against St. Lawrence and had his first career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds against Clarkson.
Mason scored a career high 14 points in the win over Clarkson, making five of his seven shots while also posting three steals. He totaled 20 points, six steals and seven assists in the two weekend victories.
This is the second honor of the season for Lokitis while Mason was honored for the first time in his career.
Union, 3-2 in the Liberty League, is 7-8 overall. The Dutchmen have won three of the last four as they enter a weekend with road games Friday at RPI (8 p.m.) and Saturday at Vassar (4 p.m.).
