Berry, Peters selected to national All-American teams

John Peters have received numerous honors after their final season. The final awards for both Dutchmen are All-American honors, as Berry was selected to the D3Football All-American Team and Peters was named to the Associated Press Little All-American Team.
Berry, who was a pre-season All-American selection by D3Football.com, truly lived up to the billng. He was selected to the Third Team at guard. Berry had previously been named to the D3Football All-East Region Team, and was a Liberty League First Team All Star selection. He was also selected to the ECAC Division III Northwest Football All Star Team and joined Peters in the 2009 Division III Senior Football Classic on December 4 n Salem, Virginia. Berry helped Union allow just nine sacks through the first nine games of the season. Union was first in the league in total offense and second in the league in passing.
Peters, a Third Team selection at linebacker by AP, was the East Regional Finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy (presented to the outstanding football player in NCAA Division III who exhibits excellence in athletics, academics and community service). He was the only defensive player included in the four national finalists. He was also named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America team and had 121 tackles in the 2009 season. Peters was a D3Football All-East Region honoree, as well as an ECAC Northwest selection and Liberty League First Team award winner. His season tackle total ranks third in Union annals, and his career total of 228 tackles wound up tied for eighth all-time at Union.
