CAPE COD, MA -- Two members of the Union College women's soccer team were named to the 2009 ECAC Division III Upstate All Star Team Wednesday. Senior
Allison Cuozzo was selected as a first team midfielder, while junior
Katie McLean received second team forward honors.
Cuozzo was the Liberty League Player of the Year and a First Team selection. She also was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Team. She had seven goals and three assists for 17 points for the 11-7 Dutchwomen. She was tied for sixth in the Liberty League for goals and was fourth in points. She helped lead Union to a league-best 50 goals and a 2.94 goals-per-game average. A three sport star athlete in soccer, lacrosse and track and field, Cuozzo serves as the President of Union College's Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
McLean, a two-time Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week, joined Cuozzo on the league's all star first team. She produced nine goals and seven assists for 25 points, which tied for the conference lead. Her goal and assist totals each ranked for third. She also produced a conference-best six game winning goals.
Union finished the 2009 season with a record of 11-7, posting a 13th straight seasaon with 11 or more victories.
