Cuozzo Player of the Year; Five Dutchwomen Honored

Allison Cuozzo is this year's Liberty League Player of the Year
ALBANY, NY – The Liberty League announced its women's soccer yearly awards on Thursday and Union College senior midfielder Allison Cuozzo was named conference Player of the Year, while joining four other Dutchwomen who received honors. Cuozzo and junior forward Katie McLean were named to the All-Liberty League First Team, while senior midfielder Katie Weinstein was named to the Second Team. Senior forward Bianca Germain and sophomore forward Jessica Strang earned honorable mention accolades.
 
Cuozzo, a captain, helped lead Union to a conference-best 50 goals and 2.78 goals-per-game. Defensively she has helped the Dutchwomen finish fourth in the league with a 0.94 goals-against average. Cuozzo is tied for sixth in the conference with six goals and is fourth on the team with 17 points. Her 64 shots rank third in the Liberty League.
 
McLean, a two-time Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week, has produced nine goals and seven assists for 25 points, which is tied for the conference lead. He goal and assist totals each rank tied for third. She has also produced a conference-best six game winning goals.
 
Weinstein provides offense from the midfield position, scoring seven goals and posting eight assists. He goal total ranks tied for sixth in the league, while her assists lead the conference. Overall she is fourth in the Liberty League and second on the team with 22 points.
 
Germain has contributed five goals and six assists for 16 points, helping Union to leading the Liberty League for goals scored and goals-per-game. She is one of five Dutchwomen to finish with 15 or more points.
 
Strang is tied for third in the Liberty League and tied for first on the team with nine goals. She has also produced two assists, bringing her point total to 20, which ranks sixth in the league.
 
The Dutchwomen, who are now 11-7-0, wait to see if they will receive one of 21 at-large bids to participate in the 63-team NCAA Tournament. A news release announcing the teams selected to the championship will be posted on NCAA.com Sunday, Nov. 8.with a bracket to follow Monday, Nov. 9, at approximately 10 a.m.
