ALBANY, NY –
Two weeks of competition and two ECAC Hockey weekly accolades for Union College men’s ice hockey freshman goaltender Keith Kinkaid, who was named the conference’s goaltender of the week on Monday. The Farmingville, NY native led the Dutchmen to their second tournament championship in as many years, beating Rensselaer, 5-4, in overtime to claim the 59th RPI Holiday Tournament title.

In the opening night of the tournament, Kinkaid earned his first career shutout in a 0-0 tie against Lake Superior State. He helped the Dutchmen advance to the championship game, turning away all three of the Lakers’ shootout tries.

The following night, he made 25 stops in a thrilling overtime victory. The win extended his unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1) and placing him on all-tournament team.

The honor is Kinkaid’s second this season – he was named rookie of the week on Nov. 16.

The Dutchmen return to Messa Rink for the first time in nearly a month when they host Colgate and Cornell for a pair of ECAC Hockey contests. The games, which are on Friday and Saturday, both begin at 7 p.m.
