, N.Y.Five Union women’s tennis players advanced to the quarterfinals this weekend at the New York State Women’s Tennis Championships.

Senior Hallie Mabrey made it to the quarterfinals in singles and with freshman Elise Malkin in doubles action. Mabrey downed William Smith's Joanie Hilton, 1-6, 6-3, 10-8. Malkin joined Mabrey for an 8-2 victory over Griffin Currie and Autumn McLain.

Freshman Dee Dee Gaudain also made it to the quarterfinals in singles and in doubles with sophomore Brittany Gilbert. Guadian's singles win over Katelyn Smith of St. John Fisher was 6-4, 6-2, and she joined Gilbert to down St. Lawrence's Elizabeth Geer and Elizabeth Ronty, 8-6. Sophomore Andria Coopersmith reached the quarterfinals in singles with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Katie Catalano of St. John Fisher.

The Dutchwomen conclude their fall side of the schedule and won’t return to action until April 3, 2010 at Smith College.
