Schapp earns Liberty League weekly award

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Steve Schapp has been named the Liberty League Co-Men's Swimmer of the Week. He shares the honor with Kevin Howard of the University of Rochester.
Schapp won the 1000 freestyle and 500 freestyle to lead the Union men's swimming & diving team to a victory over Hartwick Saturday at the Alumni Gym pool. The Dutchmen defeated the Hawks, 144-95, but lost to Springfield, 132.50 to 110.50. Schapp took first in the 1000 free with a time of 10:02.31. His clocking of 4:51.89 was victorious in the 500 free. This is his second weekly award in his career, as Schapp also received this honor in his sophomore season.
The Union men's and women's swimming & diving teams host RPI Friday night at 6 p.m.
