SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Union College sophomore
Jen Merinder (Andover, Mass.) represented the Dutchwomen at the ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Springfield College Thursday. Merinder ran in the 100 meter hurdle preliminaries, just missing the cut. She and other members of the Union squad will continue competition Friday.
Merinder finished in 15.83 seconds and three spots out of the top eight after entering competition as the 16th seed. She will compete in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:40 p.m. Friday, where she is seeded sixth with a time of 1:04.24, a school record she set at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference championships on May 3.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team of Merinder,
Rachel Fitz (Medford, N.Y.), Julie LaSpina (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) and
Clarissa Odence (Lincoln, Mass.) will race at 11 a.m. Friday, after which
Jun Ho Ham (Allendale, N.J.) will compete in the shot put at 1 p.m.
The men's 4x400 meter relay team of
Colin Gleason (Clinton, N.Y.), George Fontaine (Wilbraham, Mass.), Davis Barber (Concord, Mass.) and
Patricio Guaiquil (Astoria, N.Y.) is set to race at 4 p.m. Friday, while the women's 4x400 relay team of Fitz, Merinder,
Kerry Bannon (West Hartford, Conn.) and Odence will wrap up competition with a 4:20 p.m. start.
