Valery-Trabucco and Milan Honored By ECAC Hockey

ALBANY, NY – The ECAC Hockey weekly honors had two Union College men’s hockey student-athletes involved as junior forward Mario Valery-Trabucco was named Player of the Week, while sophomore Corey Milan was dubbed Goaltender of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The duo helped Union, which was named ECAC Hockey team of the week by the Daily Gazette, to a 5-4 victory against Army on Friday and a 4-2 win against Providence on Saturday.
 
Valery-Trabucco paced Union during the weekend by combining for a team-best four point. In the win against Army, he registered a career-high three assists, including helpers on the tying goal and the game-winning goal. In the victory against Providence, Valery-Trabucco increased his scoring streak to three games with his second goal of the season. At the end of the weekend, Valery-Trabucco nearly doubled his point total for the year. Enter the weekend he was tied for seventh on the team with three points. At weeks end he was tied for fourth with seven points.
 
Milan solidified himself as the mainstay in goal, by allowing three goals in 88:08 of action during the weekend. The sophomore earned the victory against Army, making five saves in 28:22 of relieve for his fifth win of the season. Against Providence, Milan made his 10th start of the year and posted 27 saves. This season he has posted a 6-4-1 record, a 2.64 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage.
 
Union returns to the ice for pair of ECAC Hockey games, beginning Friday at Brown at 7 p.m. The team then travels to Yale on Saturday for a 7 p.m. start.
